For six years I taught two sections of a Scriptwriting course, two semesters a year. The final assignment was to turn in the first act of a feature length screenplay. Prior to that, students were required to complete a lengthy three-act breakdown,create character profiles, and complete what I refer to as a premise worksheet,which, in my mind, is something every writer should complete - and after having completed, should tack up above their workstation and refer to often.
I've written nine feature length screenplays and dozens of short films.
Two of my features have been produced. I've worked on films as a PA, a grip,
an audio engineer, a producer, a director, a cinematographer and a script
supervisor. Hell, on one gig I made tacos.
Because of the practical experience I've had on movie sets, I'm intimately
familiar with translating the written word to the active production.
